Kazo District Celebrates Remarkable Performance in National Assessment 2023–2024
Kazo, Uganda – Kazo District Local Government has proudly celebrated a major milestone following an outstanding performance in the 2023–2024 National Assessment conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister. The district emerged 14th out of all local governments nationwide a significant improvement from its previous ranking of 31st in the assessment of 2022-2023.
The celebration took place at Kazo District Headquarters, where district leaders, technocrats and stakeholders gathered to mark the achievement. The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Hajji Badru Mayanja Majwala, expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the central government for their continuous support to the district.“I sincerely thank the President and the central government for standing with us,” said Hajji Mayanja. This achievement is a result of teamwork and we shall make all necessary efforts to perform even better next time. My technical team, I call you team no sleep and I know your committed to excellence.
District Speaker Hon. Dan Bwamunyoga echoed the CAO’s sentiments, emphasizing the strong cooperation among district leaders. “The unity and collaboration within our council and leadership structure have been key in achieving this milestone. We pledge continued support to ensure Kazo keeps progressing.”
The LC5 Chairperson, Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, praised the dedication of the district's technical staff, political leaders and the people of Kazo. “This success belongs to all of us. I thank everyone for the teamwork and also appreciate the NRM government for the development they continue to bring to our country.”
Deputy Resident District Commissioner Bazirio Paddy Mugisha also applauded the district’s performance and urged leaders and staff to maintain the momentum. “This is a great performance. Let’s work even harder to keep improving.”
Kazo District, which was carved out of Kiruhura district in 2019, has shown exceptional growth in a short period. Its 14th-place ranking among both old and new districts is a testament to the commitment and resilience of its leadership and community.
The celebration marked not only recognition of past efforts but also a call for continued dedication to excellence in service delivery and governance.
