Kazo District Commissions Water and Sanitation Projects for FY 2024/2025

Kazo, Uganda – The Kazo District Local Government yesterday officially commissioned four boreholes under its water and sanitation projects for the financial year 2024/2025. The boreholes were launched in the sub-counties of Rwemikoma, Burunga, Migina, and Nkungu, marking a significant milestone in the district’s efforts to improve access to clean and safe water.

The total cost of the four boreholes was UGX 110 million, with each borehole costing UGX 27.5 million.

Speaking at the commissioning, Mr. Tugume Julias, the District Water Engineer, emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that every village in Kazo has access to a safe water source, in line with the Ministry of Water and Environment policy and the presidential directive on water accessibility.
"Of course, this cannot be achieved in one year, but we are confident it will be realized in due course," Tugume noted.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Kazo District, Hajji Badru Mayanja Majwala, urged the local communities and water user committees to take good care of the newly constructed boreholes.

"These projects belong to you. Protect them and use them responsibly. The government of Uganda, under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is doing everything possible to bring essential services closer to the people, including clean water," the CAO said.

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kazo, Captain Yahaya Kakooza, commended the district technical team for the successful implementation of the projects and called on the communities to cooperate with their leaders and take full responsibility for maintaining the facilities.

He also extended his appreciation to President Museveni for prioritizing service delivery in rural areas.

"The President always has the people at heart. If you want such developments to continue, support him in the coming term," Captain Kakooza urged.

Tinyefuza Naboth, Communications Officer, Kazo District.
