Kazo District Launches Construction of Key Roads to Boost Transport and Livelihoods
Kazo, Uganda — In a significant step toward improving rural infrastructure and boosting the local economy, Kazo District has officially launched the construction of two vital roads in Kazo Sub- County. The projects include the 11-kilometer Bafaki Road, estimated to cost Shs38 million, and the 7-kilometer Mbaba–Rwanyangwe Road, budgeted at Shs24.5 million.
During the official launch, the Kazo district roads inspector, Eng. Eric Nuwamanya, urged road users to utilize the roads responsibly and economically. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the roads once completed, warning against blocking offshoots that help drain rainwater, a practice that can quickly degrade road conditions.
He also sensitized the community about the road reserve, explaining its significance in maintaining the roads and ensuring future development efforts are not hindered.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Administrative Officer, the deputy CAO Mr. Keith Bahemuka called on residents to support the construction efforts. He assured the public that the district’s technical team is fully committed to completing the projects and delivering high-quality infrastructure.
Dan Nahura Bwamunyonga, district speaker and Councillor for Kazo Sub-county, highlighted that the road construction had been a longstanding community demand. He noted that these developments are essential for enhancing mobility and access within the area.
Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, the LCV chairperson for Kazo district, encouraged residents to maximize the use of the new roads to increase household incomes. He noted that improved transport will enable farmers and traders to access markets more efficiently.
Residents and local leaders from Ntambazi and Mbaba parishes expressed their gratitude to the district leadership for addressing a critical need. They noted that poor roads had long hindered the transportation of goods, and the new infrastructure would greatly improve economic activity.
Kazo District remains committed to improving road infrastructure to ensure better service delivery and support for local communities.
