Kazo District Monitors the Progress of Parish Development Model

The Kazo District local government has initiated a comprehensive monitoring initiative to assess the effectiveness of the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.
Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda the District LC5 Chairperson led a visit to Kazo Town Council alongside the district technical team to evaluate the program's progress.
During the monitoring session, Rev. Katugunda urged residents of Kazo town council to fully utilize the resources offered by the PDM initiative. He emphasized the importance of seeking guidance from the technical team to maximize the benefits derived from the program. "We want everyone to take full advantage of the resources provided through this program. It is essential to engage with our technical teams for support and guidance," stated Rev. Katugunda.
He was joined by Vice Chairperson Ntungire Fred, Secretary for Production Hon. Ham Rubeinika, Deputy District Speaker Leah Munene and Kazo Town Council leadership including Mayor Mugarura Justus Muhimbura.

The Kazo District Commercial Officer Mr. Muzahura Aaron, also highlighted the importance of responsibly utilizing the PDM funds.
Several residents shared their success stories as beneficiaries of the PDM program. Kwetisa Isaac a Rwemirondo resident, received 1 million Ugandan shillings in September 2023 which he invested in poultry farming. From his business profits, he has successfully purchased a motorcycle.

Kyomuhendo Grace also from Kazo town council, received 1 million shillings in October 2023. She focused on adding value to her banana plantation and affirmed the positive impact the program has had on her livelihood.
Another beneficiary, Denis Kweyamba a 46-year-old resident of Byeshembe ward utilized his 1 million shillings from the program to buy a bull. After selling it, he reinvested the proceeds to acquire a cow which is now producing milk.
The Parish Development Model is a government-led initiative in Uganda aimed at transforming subsistence households into active participants in the money economy. The initiative targets the upliftment of 17.5 million Ugandans across 3.5 million households from poverty. It was Launched by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in February 2022.
