Kazo Health Center IV Receives Cervical Cancer Screening Machine

Kazo Health Center IV has received a colposcopy machine dedicated to enhancing cervical cancer screening for women in the region. This essential equipment was donated by the Rotary Club of Ibanda in partnership with the Rotary Club of Greater Van Nuys, California.

During a handover ceremony, Mr. Ugine Bakahika, President of the Rotary Club of Ibanda, expressed gratitude to all Rotarians who contributed to the acquisition of this vital machine. He urged health workers and local leaders in Kazo District to utilize the equipment effectively to improve women’s health outcomes.

Mr. Bahemuka Keith, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer representing the Chief Administrative Officer, acknowledged the generous donation from the Rotary Club of Ibanda. He emphasized the importance of proper usage of the machine to benefit the community.

Acting District Health Officer Mrs. Esther Bully Kiden also spoke on the significance of the donation. She pointed out that many women are succumbing to cervical cancer without ever having been screened or diagnosed. “It is crucial that we act now as cervical cancer remains one of the leading threats to women's health both locally and globally,” she stated.

Cervical cancer poses a significant health risk to women globally, even in Uganda.
