Parish chiefs, town agents, and chairpersons of Parish Development Model SACCOs (PDM SACCOs) in Kazo District have received tablets to enhance their data collection efforts.
Kazo district received 114 tablets and 114 power banks, making it a significant step forward in the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM).
During the handover event at the Kazo district headquarters, the deputy Resident District Commissioner Mugisha Bazirio Paddy warned individuals against misusing government programs, stating that those caught engaging in corruption will face consequences.
The Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Badru Mayanja Majwala urged all government officials in the district to effectively perform their duties to achieve the government's goals. He expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for introducing the PDM program, describing it as a beneficial initiative for local communities.
Mr. Mayanja emphasized the importance of properly maintaining the tablets to ensure the successful execution of the mission associated with the PDM.
At the same event, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Bahemuka Keith announced the reassignment of some parish chiefs to different parishes to improve service delivery.
Additionally, the district agricultural officer and PDM focal person Mr. John Baptist Asiimwe, encouraged parish chiefs to track the distribution of government funds in their areas.
These tablets are targeted towards enhancing PDM performance through monitoring and supervision by parish chiefs, community development officers, district IT officer and statistician at the district level, and PDM Sacco chairpersons at the parish level.
PDM was launched by President Yoweri Museveni in February 2022 as one of the government’s multi-sectoral strategies meant to transform at least 17 million Ugandans in approximately 3.5 million households from a subsistence economy to a money economy.
The revolving fund goes directly to the SACCO accounts in each parish, from which households can borrow and invest in income-generating activities.
