Kazo District Hosts MAAIF for UGIFT Irrigation Monitoring
Kazo District Local Government welcomed a team from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) to monitor the UGIFT Micro-Scale Irrigation program. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Administrative Officer Hajji Mayanja Badru who underscored the significance of the initiative in fostering agricultural development in Kazo district.
During the session, the LC5 Chairman Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda expressed his gratitude to MAAIF for its ongoing support of various developmental programs in Kazo district. He also urged the ministry to consider increasing funding to enhance these vital projects.
Eng. Nuwamanya Titus the Principal Engineer in Charge of Irrigation and Drainage from MAAIF, highlighted the collaborative efforts between the district's technical team and its political leaders.
He reiterated the ministry's commitment to monitoring the progress of the UGIFT Micro-Scale Irrigation program and emphasized the importance of timely communication from the production department regarding funding needs.
Senior Agricultural engineer Mr. Tumwijukye Innocent presented a detailed report on the current status of the micro-scale irrigation initiative showcasing its progress and impact on local agriculture.
Meanwhile the Resident District Commissioner Captain Yahaya Kakooza who was also in this meeting, echoed sentiments of appreciation for the MAAIF team's monitoring activities, commending the government's dedication to funding agricultural programs. He encouraged continued support for community development and celebrated the cooperative spirit between technical experts and politicians in Kazo District.
