Buffalo Bicycles Donates Bicycles to Community Health Extension Workers in Kazo District

Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) in Kazo District have received bicycles donated by Buffalo Bicycles Uganda Limited, in a move aimed at enhancing their mobility and improving healthcare service delivery at the grassroots level. The donation highlights the company’s ongoing partnership with the Ministry of Health to strengthen healthcare access in rural communities.

CHEWs were recruited to bridge the gap between health facilities and communities by providing services like disease prevention, health promotion, and basic medical care.

Speaking during the handover event, Robert Okello, Manager of Buffalo Bicycles Uganda Limited, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting public health initiatives.
“We are proud to support the Ministry of Health by providing transport for community health extension workers to reach more people effectively,” he said.

Kazo District Health Educator, Fokushaba Scovia, expressed gratitude to Buffalo Bicycles Uganda Limited, noting that the donation will significantly ease transportation challenges faced by CHEWs.

The LC5 Chairperson of Kazo District, Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, also thanked the company for its support and urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the bicycles.
“Avoid political involvement. Your work is rooted in impartiality and service to the people,” he advised.

The event was attended by various local leaders, including Capt. Kakooza Yahaya, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kazo, who called on the health workers to serve with dedication and patriotism.

Hon. Dan Atwijukire Kimosho, Member of Parliament for Kazo County, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the crucial role CHEWs play in health promotion and disease prevention.
“It is essential that community health extension workers work closely with residents to help them understand the value of health initiatives. This will improve the overall performance of the health sector in Kazo District,” he said.

Hon. Kimosho urged the health workers to remain focused, collaborate effectively, and strive to make a meaningful impact in the communities they serve.
