Office of Prime Minister Recognizes Kazo District for Strong Performance in National Assessment

The Office of the Prime Minister has today officially released the National Performance Assessment results for the financial year 2023–2024, with Kazo district registering a positive outcome, securing the 14th position nationally.

The announcement was made during a meeting held at the Kazo district Council Hall, attended by both the technical and political leadership of the district.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Kazo district, Hajji Badru Mayanja and the LC5 Chairman, Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, were recognized for their unwavering commitment and constant encouragement to departmental heads and sub-county chiefs to strive for improved performance.

A delegation from the Office of the Prime Minister, led by Assistant Commissioner Mr. Chris Magezi, emphasized the significance of the national assessment in strengthening performance within local governments. He commended Kazo for its impressive ranking and encouraged the district to aim even higher, stating that reaching a single-digit position is achievable.

"The main objectives of the National Performance Assessment are to promote good practices in administration, resource management, accountability and service delivery," Mr. Magezi explained.

Economist Ezra Ainomugisha from the Prime Minister’s Office also applauded Kazo District’s performance. He encouraged the district to push further and become one of the top-performing districts in the country. “With this young and brilliant technical team, reaching a top-10 ranking is very possible,” he said.

Representing the CAO, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Keith Bahemuka thanked the Prime Minister’s Office for its coordination with Kazo district. He noted that achieving the 14th position was a result of collective effort and promised even better performance in future assessments.

District Speaker Hon. Dan Bwamunyoga echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of unity among the district’s leadership. “The unity and collaboration within our council and leadership structure have been key in achieving this milestone. We pledge continued support to ensure Kazo keeps progressing,” he said.

District Vice Chairperson Ntungire Fred also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister’s Office for its cooperation. He assured that the political leadership will continue supporting the technical team to help the district perform even better in upcoming assessments.
