NRM’s Atwijukire Kimosho, Nawe Molly Kamukama Win Kazo Parliamentary Seats
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has secured key victories in Kazo Constituency following the declaration of final parliamentary election results by the Returning Officer on Friday, January 16, 2026.
In the race for Directly Elected Member of Parliament for Kazo Constituency, Atwijukire Dan Kimosho emerged the winner after garnering 40,904 votes, representing 71.67 percent of the valid votes cast.
According to the official declaration, Tabamuzigu Balam Kantu came second with 15,366 votes (26.92 percent), while Barungi Jim obtained 352 votes (0.62 percent). Twinomujuni Innocent received 285 votes (0.50 percent) and Muhanguzi Michael trailed with 169 votes (0.30 percent).
The district recorded 57,076 valid votes, 1,138 invalid votes, and a total of 58,214 votes cast, translating into a 56.03 percent voter turnout from the 103,894 registered voters. Results were received from all 282 polling stations, representing 100 percent coverage.
Meanwhile, in the election for District Woman Member of Parliament for Kazo, Nawe Molly Kamukama of the NRM was declared the winner after polling 33,757 votes, the highest among the candidates.
She defeated Kemirembe Ronah (Independent), who secured 22,686 votes, and Atuhaire Leah (Independent) with 334 votes. Other contenders included Natumanya Stella Mugisha (Independent), who received 231 votes.
The Woman MP race recorded 57,008 valid votes, 1,333 rejected ballot papers and a total of 58,341 ballot papers counted with 228 ballots classified as spoilt.
The results for both races were officially declared by Bashahja Charles, the Returning Officer for Kazo district at Kazo District Council Hall, in accordance with the Parliamentary Elections Act.
The victories consolidate NRM’s political dominance in Kazo District, as the party retains both the constituency and district woman parliamentary seats.
